Dear friends and colleagues,

Beginning in 2006, I was an editor at Environmental Building Nudes, known fondly as EBN*. Among other tasks, I was on a team on the lookout for new ideas in green building technology.

We’d visit the expo hall at the big shows and look for new products or technologies coming to save the day.

Then we’d help Alex compile the coolest products of the year in our own “Top-10 Green Building Products of 2006,” and so on. It was a lot of fun!

If you ever feel pessimistic about human caring and motivation, talk to Alex or Brent at one of those shows and rub shoulders with their excitement. Talk to a small building product manufacturer at an out-of-the-way booth at a trade show. There is so much innovation and heart going into ecological inventions!

Not all the inventions stuck around. If we opened the windows open to bring in fresh air on our editorial meetings the shrieking could be a bit loud from the playground next door.

On the other hand, if a toddler version of Professor X with telepathic powers were out on the playground for such a meeting, they could have conceivably heard shrieking in our heads as we said to each other in frustration,
